1. Poovar Beach (Kerala) Situated at the southernmost part of Kerala is the secluded beach of
Poovar with a river of the same name flowing through it, making an
enchanting island nestling under a vast canopy of coconut palms. Poovar
is easily accessible from Trivandrum International Airport (30 kms).
2. Kovalam Beach (Kerala) This internationally renowned beach resort has been a favourite with
tourists since the 1930's. 16 kms from Trivandrum city and airport,
Kovalam consists of three adjacent beaches. There are several resorts to
suit all budgets.
3. Varkala Beach (Kerala) Varkala is a seaside resort and spa, as well as an important Hindu
centre of pilgrimage. High cliffs with rich mineral springs rise
majestically from the coastline. It is just an hour's drive (41 km) from
Trivandrum. The luxury resort of the Taj Group of Hotels is beautifully
landscaped on a cliff overlooking the sea.
4. Goa Beaches Goa, the crown jewel in the treasure trove of India, is a
masterpiece of nature. Stretches of pristine white sand wetted by rushes
of azure blue water, the sky mirrored in the sea below, mesmerizing palm
trees, white churches resting against lush green paddy field and the
strumming of guitars from distant taverns make Goa the perfect hideaway
for those seeking respite from the concrete jungles of civilization.
5. Diu Beaches This former Portuguese enclave has fine white sandy beaches, and is
within the boundary of the State of Gujarat in the Northwest of India.
It contains much of the architecture and style of its Portuguese
connections. There is a good resort just across on Ahmedpur- Mandvi
beach on the coast of Gujarat.
