Truly a "Great Land" and the most fascinating region
of India. This third largest state is one of the most industrially and
commercially developed states of India. Its chief city Mumbai, is the true
Financial and Industrial capital of India. But modern Maharashtra is not the
bustle of industrial and agricultural activity or the frenzied pursuit of
wealth progress alone. Very much part of the everyday scene anywhere in the
state are the signs of its great religious, cultural, historical and martial
heritages.
Maharashtra offers a traveler idyllic
bliss in a land blessed by nature. Quiet and beautiful hill stations,
secluded palm-shaded golden beaches, placid lakes and warm springs and a
variety of wildlife. These are all part of a land created as it were, only
for a relaxing holiday.
Mumbai (Bombay)
The commercial capital of the country. The city that never sleeps. These are
among the phrases used to describe this burgeoning metropolis.
Mumbai pulsates with activity. It is a city that is disciplined by no time
frame-neither by day nor night. Mumbai is also the country's financial
powerhouse, the nation's industrial heartland, and its economic nerve
centre. Dazzling shopping arcades, exciting sport activity, night clubs and
discotheques, theatre and music, gourmet restaurants and interesting
sightseeing - Mumbai offers the visitor a heady mix of all this and more.
Aurangabad

Named after the Emperor Aurangazeb. Aurangabad is a pleasant city that is
better known as a base for visiting the Ajanta and Ellora Caves
Nasik
A delightful town, usually bustling with fervent crowds, Nasik is a classic
mélange of the past and the present. It paves way to many fascinating forts
and royally graceful temples that possess an aura of exuberance. This part
of the terra firma is more than a dream destination for zealous lovers of
glorious travel. It plays abode to most of the industries located in
Maharashtra, including the Security Printing Press of the government, the
nation's currency printer. The core of commerce and trade, it was earlier
the country's largest market arena.
Panchgani
Each place has something unique to offer. Maybe just one thing, but a
something that is it's own. A particular sweet smell, the way the breeze
hums or roar when it flirts with the trees or maybe the taste of water. Or
may be even a falling of emotion that you associate with the hills when you
go there for the first time. One of the first things you notice as you drive
into Panchgani are the number of schools that are tucked away inside the
curves and turns of the hill station. In fact, you might know that Panchgani
is famous for its numerous Boarding Schools. Many prefers to get a glimpses
of the sweet blend or romance that fits all around.
One must see chart or marked out on the tourist map are places excitingly
named as Bhim Chula (Devils's Kitchen) and Harrison's valley, which is one
of the most breath taking sights of all. Sidney point is another favorite
tourist haunt. Then there is Parsi Point the most windy joint, over looks
the Krishna Valley and near blue waters of the Dhom dam. Table land, the
Panchgani Pleasure is a hotspot which is unmissable. It is one of the
largest Table Land in the continent and famous for Film shootings.
Pune(Poona)

Situated about 170 kms away from Bombay, Pune is the cultural capital of
Maharashtra. For a period of a hundred years, Pune city itself was the
bastion of the all-powerful Maratha Empire. The rugged terrain with its
awesome forts and well preserved monuments lies testimony to Shivaji - the
17th century Maratha warrior King. After the Maratha Empire, Pune fell into
the hands of the British, who initially wanted to transform it into a
monsoon capital, but instead developed it as a military base and also
renamed it Poona. Today Pune is an important commercial centre with nearly
two million inhabitants.
